General information about research at Vistula University

Vistula Group of Universities is a national leader in internationalisation amongst all the universities in Poland. The Universities are made up of outstanding expert scientists and researchers, who have a real impact in economic and social life. The Vistula School of Hospitality conducts research in the fields of tourism, leisure, and hospitality, and interacts in the implementation of the results of these studies.

During its forty years of activity, the Vistula School of Hospitality has carried out many major works and research projects, the recipients of which were: the government of the Republic of Poland, provincial authorities, national and regional organisations, banks, investors, and tourist enterprises. In co-operation with the Central Statistical Office, the University participated in the improvement of the tourism statistics system in Poland.

In recent years, the main research activities carried out by the University, include: participation in the governmental Research Programme of Official Statistics, which covers  annual statistical research and the analysis of tourism in Poland. A notable publication, in particular, was the effects of research related to tourist movement in separate provinces: “Tourism Poland regional layout of 2017”, was produced at the request of the Agencies’ Marshall of the Provinces: Masovian, Greater Poland, Pomeranian, and Lublin. The University also implemented two research projects, commissioned by the provincial  Marshall institutions of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Great Poland Voivodeship: ’Tourism in Poland in 2017. Pomeranian Voivodeship’, and ‘Tourism in Poland in 2017. Great Polish Voivodeship’.

The School of Tourism and Hotel Management in Vistula was also responsible for the preparation and provision of data to the statistical institutions of the European Union (Eurostat), the World Tourism Organisation (UN WTO), the European Tourism Commission (European Tourism Commission), and the National Bank of Poland – data for the Polish balance of payments.  

The latest scientific projects are:

  • EFF Tourism – international research project, implemented within the framework of the European Erasmus+ Programme;
  • VOYAGE is an international research project, implemented within the framework of the European Programme, COSME,
  • Satellite account of tourism for Poland – assessment of the impact of tourism on the economy.
